On the Road Again...

Posted by todd on March 10, 2013

We just finished up stop number two of six events on the FLW Tour at Smith Lake in Alabama.  I was able to squeeze in the Top 70 and finish in the money at this event with a 60th place finish with 18-00 overall.  It certainly helped get things going in the right direction, and I'm pleased to have caught a five-bass limit both of the tournament days - as that wasn't exactly easy to do there.  You can always look at the mistakes you made and things you did in an event that didn't work out - and trust me, I do that every day.  But I've found that it's not helpful to dwell on them, but rather to take the positives and keep building on momentum going into the next event.  I'm pleased with it being my first time to Smith Lake against this group of fishermen, but I still have alot of work and improving to do.  This should keep me in the hunt for the Forrest Wood Cup - it's a long season and consistency counts.

Troy missed the check line by just a few ounces again, but had another solid event on the Co-Angler side.  I'm hoping his break-out event is coming soon.

My journal is short this week, as we're right back to work at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri for the first stop on the Everstart Central Division.  Troy is fishing as  Pro this week, and we'll be working to both get off to a good start in this four-event format.  You have to finish well in all four events to have a shot at winning the points and qualifying for the 2014 Cup.  I finished 6th in the points in 2011, so I like my chances.  But this week is important for both of us.

I'll post a full wrap-up journal for both of these events this week, but for now....it's back to work.  Thanks for all of the prayers and well-wishes!  They are appreciated.
